Call To Worship
Have someone read through this call to worship from the song that Moses and the Israelites sang in Exodus15. As you prepare your heart for worship, may we remember who our God is in right perspective today!
“I will sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. The LORD is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?”
— Exodus 15:1-2,11

Sermon

This week, we’re studying Luke 10:1-11 as we hear from Becky Lahna, Pastor of Goodland Church in Santa Barbara, CA - as we continue in our preaching series: Sent.
Going Deeper
You don’t have to answer all of these questions. Look them over, and use one or two that might be helpful as you respond to God’s Word.
What does it mean to be “sent”? Are only the ‘superhero’ international missionaries the ones who are “sent”? If you have met Jesus, turned to him in faith for salvation - would you describe yourself as being a missionary? Why not?
Becky spent some time talking about how we aren’t sent out ‘alone’ as “lone warriors”, rather we are sent together. However, it’s still risky, vulnerable, and sacrificial to live lives that are “sent”. So, what does the picture of being “sent” together mean as we consider how we are “sent”. What does it mean when we are separated by pandemic, social distance, or real geographic distance?
Preparation was the starting place that Jesus laid out for the 72. According to Luke 10:2, they were to “ask the Lord of the harvest”. Becky shared her practice of praying at 10:02 everyday for the “harvest”. What practices of prayer do you participate in as you consider our calling as Jesus followers to be “sent”? Do you pray for those haven’t met or heard of Jesus? Do you believe that prayer is effective?
Community Updates & PRAYER
Submit a Prayer Request: Share with one another the needs, challenges, and joys that you, your family, your neighbors, and your workplaces are going through during this time. Prayer requests can be shared with either our whole church, or just the prayer leadership teams.
Spend Some Time in Prayer: We have collected some prayer requests that have been submitted to us and we have posted them on our community prayer wall. This morning, we invite you to pray for those needs posted there, and we also invite you pray over what was shared or discovered in the Going Deeper questions above.
Share a Photo or Video: Here you have an opportunity to post a video, photo, or selfie from different groups and families to share with one another. Take a selfie with Worship Online in the background! Hold up signs! Express your gratitude and celebrate being a part of Community Church!
Benediction
Choose someone to read the passage of Scripture below out loud, or have someone from your family or Zoom group read it out loud as a benediction over our church family.
“May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Amen.
— Ephesians 3:17-19
