Call To Worship
Have someone read through this call to worship from Psalm 67. As you prepare your heart for worship, remember that we are joining together with the people of God from everywhere around the globe. May our voices join with our brothers and sisters everywhere!
3 May the peoples praise you, God;
may all the peoples praise you.
4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you rule the peoples with equity
and guide the nations of the earth.
5 May the peoples praise you, God;
may all the peoples praise you.
— Psalm 67:3-5

Sermon

This week, we’re studying John 17:20-26 as we hear from Pastor Tim as he introduces us to Brian and Jess Wilmarth, who are beginning our new series: Sent.
Going Deeper
You don’t have to answer all of these questions. Look them over, and use one or two that might be helpful as you respond to God’s Word.
Do we actually like being a ‘sending’ church? Is this actually a good thing - that we have prayerfully supported so many deeply loved people who have been sent around the world to serve in God’s kingdom? For those who have been around for a sending (or two, or ten), what good have you seen come from it?
How does a shared purpose and mission result in unity? Who in your life do you feel unified with? What has brought that unity? We often talk about how at community church, the one clear area of commonality across the board is that we are unified in Jesus. On a very practical level, what does it mean that we are unified in Jesus? How does that extend to even those who are geographically separated from us right now?
Brian concluded the sermon by reminding us that we aren’t just a sending church because we say goodbye to so many loved ones in service of the Church global — but, that this sending identity is about what we all are called to right here, where we are! We have a mission that we are invited into right in our homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods. As Brian asked about “one person” in your life - was there someone who came to mind? Have there been people you have embraced being sent to? We invite you to prayerfully consider what being unified in Jesus could say to that person in our current moment of brokenness across the world.
Community Updates & PRAYER
Submit a Prayer Request: Share with one another the needs, challenges, and joys that you, your family, your neighbors, and your workplaces are going through during this time. Prayer requests can be shared with either our whole church, or just the prayer leadership teams.
Spend Some Time in Prayer: We have collected some prayer requests that have been submitted to us and we have posted them on our community prayer wall. This morning, we invite you to pray for those needs posted there, and we also invite you pray over what was shared or discovered in the Going Deeper questions above.
Share a Photo or Video: Here you have an opportunity to post a video, photo, or selfie from different groups and families to share with one another. Take a selfie with Worship Online in the background! Hold up signs! Express your gratitude and celebrate being a part of Community Church!
Benediction
Choose someone to read the passage of Scripture below out loud, or have someone from your family or Zoom group read it out loud as a benediction over our church family.
“ May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
— Romans 15:5-6
