Call To Worship
Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
be merciful to me and answer me.
My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Do not hide your face from me,
do not turn your servant away in anger;
you have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me,
God my Savior.
Though my father and mother forsake me,
the Lord will receive me.
—Psalm 27:7-10

Going Deeper
You don’t have to answer all of these questions. Look them over, and use one or two that might be helpful as you respond to God’s Word.
Where are you experiencing fear, anxiety, or stress in this season? Don’t answer with what you think the right answer should be. Answer based on your actual experience.
How do you usually feel fear in your life (screaming, tears, heart-burn, other)? Are you experiencing these in this season? Perhaps the places of “fear” are more long-term and on-going.
Do you share these with others? Why/why not?
Do you keep these to yourself?
Are you facing Jesus/interacting with God about these fears?
What is your typical response when you are stressed, upset, or fearful?
Is there a posture from the end of the sermon that you can relate to (head down, arms folded, hiding, or other)?
What would it take to face Jesus with the deep cries of your heart this week? Is there a barrier preventing you? Do you question why should I? Is God faithfully present in our hard times? Is He even knowable? You may “know” the right answers to these questions, but are those right answers evident when life hits the fan.
What is a physical step you could take to remind you to face Jesus with your fears this week? Try a posture of prayer or worship that physically forces you to “face” Jesus. Here are a couple ideas:
Try a prayer walk. Consider how taking a step forward can be a reminder of your heart’s desire to be nearer to Jesus.
Consider your hands in prayer. Is there a way to illustrate your heart’s posture in how you hold your hands in prayer. We are deeply physical in the way God has created us. Sometimes the way we move can impact the way we think.
Is there an area of life in your normal day that you turn to when you are stressed (eating, vegging out, etc…)? What would it look like to fast from that at least for a portion of your day and replace it with time in prayer?
May you Face Jesus with your Fear this week!
Community Updates & PRAYER
Submit a Prayer Request: Share with one another the needs, challenges, and joys that you, your family, your neighbors, and your workplaces are going through during this time. Prayer requests can be shared with either our whole church, or just the prayer leadership teams.
Spend Some Time in Prayer: We have collected some prayer requests that have been submitted to us and we have posted them on our community prayer wall. This morning, we invite you to pray for those needs posted there, and we also invite you pray over what was shared or discovered in the Going Deeper questions above.
Share a Photo or Video: Here you have an opportunity to post a video, photo, or selfie from different groups and families to share with one another. Take a selfie with Worship Online in the background! Hold up signs! Express your gratitude and celebrate being a part of Community Church!
