Going Deeper
You don’t have to answer all of these questions. Look them over, and use one or two that might be helpful as you respond to God’s Word.
Where has Godly wisdom called you out of “safety”? Our current cultural climate emphasizes “safety” and places an exceedingly large value on “getting what’s mine”. Godly Wisdom calls us to a place of surrender, submission, and sacrifice. Yet, in many ways its the truly safest place to be - in right relationship with the God who made everything. Where do you sense God calling you into greater relational dependence on him and away from the world’s definition of '“safety”?
Chris emphasized how one of the starting places in seeking after God’s wisdom is actually to simply ask God for it. Is there an area of your life where you feel like you are desperately in need of the wisdom of God? We’d invite you to share this with a friend, small group, or mentor. Then spend time in prayer, together, asking the Lord to give you His wisdom in that area.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” - James 1:5
What does it mean to you to remember or understand that our God is always still speaking to us through His word - the Bible? When we open God’s word and sit at His feet, God speaks into our lives. A forgotten spiritual practice is the discipline of memorizing scripture. However, when you think about memorizing scripture as sealing God’s voice in our hearts, we can begin to see how this practice both demonstrates Godly wisdom as well as is the means by which we can acquire Godly wisdom. Consider the spiritual practice of scripture memorization this week. If you need a starting place — begin with Proverbs 3:5-6.
Community Updates & PRAYER
Submit a Prayer Request: Share with one another the needs, challenges, and joys that you, your family, your neighbors, and your workplaces are going through during this time. Prayer requests can be shared with either our whole church, or just the prayer leadership teams.
Spend Some Time in Prayer: We have collected some prayer requests that have been submitted to us and we have posted them on our community prayer wall. This morning, we invite you to pray for those needs posted there, and we also invite you pray over what was shared or discovered in the Going Deeper questions above.
Share a Photo or Video: Here you have an opportunity to post a video, photo, or selfie from different groups and families to share with one another. Take a selfie with Worship Online in the background! Hold up signs! Express your gratitude and celebrate being a part of Community Church!
