WORSHIP ONLINE

Sunday, April 26, 2020

children’s Sunday School

Parents, as you are now the ‘Sunday School Teachers’ for your kids, we have prepared this tool to help you guide your kids into the rest of the service. We encourage you to watch alongside of your kids and participate together.

Call To Worship

Choose someone from your group to read the call to worship, or read it out loud yourself. If you’re journaling, choose part of this verse and add it to your journal. Highlight words or phrases that draw you towards God in worship.

Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
Today... hear his voice
— Psalms 95:6-7

You can either click on the following videos below one at a time, or you can click here for a single YouTube playlist that will take you through the rest of the announcements, the worship in song, and the sermon.

Going Deeper

You don’t have to answer all of these questions. Look them over, and use one or two that might be helpful as you respond to God’s Word.

  1. Why is it better that Jesus would not remain physically with the disciples forever? Do we believe that it is better that he was “going away”?

  2. Do Jesus’ questions, which he asked to Mary (Why are you crying? Who is it that you are looking for?) speak to you for our current moment? Are you living as if physical life is all there is? What does Jesus words’ to not cling to his physical body say to our world in the face of disease, sickness, and even death?

  3. Do you remember the first time that you felt Jesus call your name? When you face uncertainty is your response to listen to Jesus still speaking? How do you spend time listening to the Lord? What are some ways you can listen to Jesus speak this week?

Community Updates

Share with one another the needs, challenges, and joys that you, your family, your neighbors, and your workplaces are going through during this time. Submit a prayer request to either our prayer/leadership teams or to be shared with the whole church. Here you have an opportunity to post a video, photo, or selfie from different groups and families to share with one another.

Prayer

Take this opportunity to lift up your voices to God. We have collected some prayer requests that have been submitted to us and we have posted them on our community prayer wall (see the button below). This morning, we invite you to pray for those needs posted there, and we also invite you pray over what was shared or discovered in the Going Deeper questions above. Pray specifically for our church family:

  • thank Jesus that He is sovereign over all creation

  • spend some time praying that we would grow in relationship with God, trusting in His plan.

  • continue to pray for God’s mercy over our world; an end to the pandemic, strength for those who are suffering, comfort for those who mourn, and that somehow God would use even this to turn people’s hearts back towards life with Him.

If you need some guidance in prayer, use the A.C.T.S. prayer guide linked below as framework for helping you pray if you’d like.

Benediction

Choose someone to read the passage of Scripture below out loud, or have someone from your family or Zoom group read it out loud as a benediction over our church family.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.’
And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’

Tithes & Offerings

UPDATE: Our Lenten Giving has concluded for this season. As a church, we were able to provide a gift of $2,019.43 to Amirah! That was over and above your regular, faithful giving here at Community Church. Thank you Stephanie for coming to our church to share with us before the social distancing order, and for bringing God’s Word to us by preaching last week here in our Worship Online!

As you conclude in worship you can login to our giving portal using the link below, take time to mail a check, or reach out to your bank to set up a bill pay. Remember that our tithes and offerings are a continued act of worship and are a physical act of entrusting all of our lives to Jesus.
